Welcome to the website of Beta Alpha Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc – affectionately known as the “Mother Pearl” of New Jersey. Beta Alpha Omega Chapter, chartered in 1934, serves the communities of Newark, Irvington and Hillside.
Our chapter has a rich and long history of community service and sisterhood. Beta Alpha Omega awards annual scholarships and consistently supports the communities’ youth through our enrichment programs in the communities we serve. Some of our volunteer services include: adoption of a local domestic violence safe house, the Angel Tree Prison Fellowship where we invite children and families of incarcerated individuals to an annual Christmas party, financial support of a Bible Camp for children, along with the distribution of book bags filled with school supplies. The “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer” walk is an event in which we have over ninety percent of the members’ participation – we have consistently been heralded as “major fundraisers” by the local American Cancer Society Chapter.
This is just a brief synopsis of Beta Alpha Omega and our commitment to the communities that we serve. Please feel free to browse our website and note the scheduled events which we post in our events tab. We look forward to your support as we continue to live our mantra of sisterhood and “service to all mankind.”
